Udupi-Kasargode Transmission Project Ltd (UKTL), an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project, envisaged by Ministry of Power (MOP), is envisioned for improving reliability of power supply and stability in Northern area of Kerala and relieving congestion between S1 (Andhra Pardesh, Telangana & Karnataka) – S2 (Tamil Nadu & Kerala) corridor. The power transmission project will play a pivotal role in evacuating the renewable power produced in Karnataka to further strengthen the power supply and stability in southern India.
The 115 km long 400 kV (quad) D/C Udupi – Kasargode transmission lines will help in developing an integrated and efficient power transmission system network to ensure reliability and stability of power supply in the southern region. Once operational, the project will improve evacuation flow to the extent of more than 1000 MW power which will immensely benefit States of Karnataka and Kerala.
