Frequently Asked Questions
What Are You Looking For?
No land acquisition is required for a transmission line project. There won’t be any emission of hazardous material during and after construction of the transmission line. Additionally, being an overhead transmission line project, it is Agriculture friendly as agricultural activities can be easily carried out under the affected area.

Harvesting of crops can be easily done due to Ultramodern designs of tower (Lattice Tower Design) which gives ample amount of ground clearance for agricultural work to continue without any hindrance.

Transmission Lines have no effect on the growing crops falling under the corridor area as the ground clearance maintained as per Indian Electricity Rule 1956. Clearance is – 8.84 M. We have maintained more than 9mtr of ground clearance.

Seasonal Crops can be grown easily and trees upto height of 6 mtr can be planted under the transmission line corridor.
Transmission Lines routes are constructed by using the latest GIS Software. And based on the collected date the line having the least impact on the environment is considered for construction.

Transmission line constructed is having a ground clearance above 8.84 M as per Indian Electricity act. Thus, the line does not affect the trees or vegetation as long as the mentioned clearance is maintained.

Further Transmission line is used to transfer electricity from one point to other and it has no radiation effect and thus have no effect on the people residing along the transmission line. For example, we are also using the electricity for operating our home appliance at our home and no radiation effect is reported till date.
In India itself till date as per the data of Ministry of Power 113587.21 ckm of line has been constructed over 28 states of India. Till date nowhere in India it has been reported that Transmission Line is having any Health Hazard.

Safety related aspects have already been considered during the design as per Indian Electricity Act.
The materials used for construction of UKTL is having the ISO 9001-2018 standards.

Further execution of work is being carried out under the safety protocol of ISO 45001-2018 standards.

The conductors used in the Transmission Line is AAAC Moose Conductor can handle a pressure of 100 KN.

But keeping in view for the safety of the persons residing along the corridor if the conductor snaps due to any natural calamity like cyclone or earth quake the Transmission Line Tripping time is kept below 20 Mili Seconds i.e. before 1/2000 part of a Second the line will trip to prevent any accident.
What is Induction ??? Electromagnetic induction, is caused by the current flowing in the electric power transmission line or other such source. The alternating current in the electric power transmission line, Io, induces a time-varying magnetic field around the electric power transmission line.

As such Transmission Line follows the law of Electromagnetic Induction but it does not have any induction effect on the Person or vegetation along the corridor as it follows the Ground clearance as per Electricity Act 1956.

Instead of Induction Corona effect occurs which is the phenomenon of ionization of surrounding air around the conductor due to which luminous glow with hissing noise is rise is known as the corona effect.

In order to counter the Corona Effect Corona Ring is installed on all the phases of the Transmission Line and it is limited to few Centimeters to the conductor.

Thus while maintaining the Ground Clearance of more then 8.84 M as per Electricity Act 1956 all People and Vegetation along the corridor are made safe and are not affected in any way by Transmission Line.
First of all, 400 kV Cables are not produced in India and Globally it is manufactured by very few companies which makes it very difficult on availability front and upkeep to the supply demand as per construction needs.

Further, technically it is not feasible as the transmission line to be laid is 400 kV Double Circuit. So, the line of that capacity it will have 24 cables which not be technically viable to put underground. Moreover, operations & maintenance of underground cables is difficult.

Till date nowhere in the world 400kV Underground cable is used for such long-distance Transmission Line Project.
Technical Aspect: Most of the coastal areas are having sand as the major component of the soil, which makes them unsuitable for Transmission Line Construction. As The bearing capacity of soil of the area along the coast is very low and from engineering and design point of view it is not possible to construct the Transmission Line.

Demographic Aspect: The coastal area is heavily densely populated areas with permanent structures because of which required safety clearances cannot be obtained as per Indian Electricity Act. Hence, Transmission Line cannot be constructed along the coastal Area.
In case of transmission line project, there is no land acquisition or purchase made. The project only requires ‘Right of Way’ (ROW) access on the land parcel and the land title continues to remain with the land owner. However, the land-owner is duly compensated for the surface damages incurred during the construction activity as well as for the land area used under tower and conductor. The compensation is paid according to the government guidelines.
